🥎 Mazda 6 Dpf Forced Regeneration
First Dealership garage forced regen done after about 450 miles from brand new. Stated it was a faulty sensor. Did not replace oil and filter. Second visit to garage another forced regeneration and oil and filter change. Seven visits to garage ref blocked dpf. Mileage currently 16950 miles. Last regen done about 1000 miles ago.
This car with a DPF won't tollerate prolonged town use & wll need a run above 40mph at least every 100 miles or so. If it is now in limp mode due to a clogged DPF it will need an emergency forced regen at the dealers. If the DPF gets destroyed in the process ( unlikely ) then cheapest way out would be to get it deleted.
Diesel particulate filters are an efficient means of reducing particulate emissions of diesel engines by orders of magnitude. The necessary periodical regeneration of these filter systems requires drastic changes in the engine management, notably in fuel and air path control, because the temperature levels required for regeneration are 200°-400°C above normal levels.

The DPF needs to be cleaned regularly, through a process called regeneration, either active, passive or forced regeneration, the accumulated soot is burnt off at high temperature (around 600°c) to leave only a residue of ash, effectively renewing or regenerating the filter, ready to take on more pollution from the engine.
P246C Excessively high pressures on the inlet side indicate a restriction on the DPF. P2463 is a generic codethat is defined as “diesel particulate filter restriction”. When fitting a new DPF it is recommended that a forced regeneration is carried out directly after resetting the ECU.
Mazda 6 - MODELS SA SOIL FILTER (DPF) PROBLEM - The particulate filter (DPF) control lamp flashes. CAUSE - Soot Particle Filter (DPF) clogged. Engine oil contaminated with diesel fuel. REPAIR - Initiate forced regeneration Particulate Filter (DPF), using manufacturer's diagnostic equipment or the like. Replace engine oil and filter.
Euro 1 to Euro 6 guide - find out your car's emissions standard; Active DPF regeneration . Active regeneration means extra fuel is injected automatically, as part of the vehicle's ECU, when a filter reaches a predetermined limit (normally about 45%) to raise the temperature of the exhaust and burn off the stored soot.
It a common mistake to think that a forced regenration clears out all kind of trouble. Soot is beeing burned, but ash is left behind, and won't ever go away. In the end, the filter is filled with ash, and regenerations won't have any effect. The car can't breathe, but it's not due to missing regenerations.
Both active and passive regeneration happens automatically, without the intervention of a mechanic or DPF specialist. Forced regeneration – If neither of the above methods work, the garage will need to clean the blocked DPF. This will cost between £85-100 for a straightforward job or as part of regular maintenance. I am thinking this info is still fairly accurate for the 2020’s. So much for swapping out exhaust tips.
Hello. I bought a Mazda 6 recently and the DPF light flashes intermittently, sometimes for the best part of the day which sends the car into limp mode but every time I visit a mechanic, they say there are no codes stored on the ecu. can anyone recommend a specialist that knows what they are
AUTEL MaxiCheck DPF is able to perform many functions on the Diesel Particulate Filter system. It can perform a forced regeneration, turn off the DPF light and reset ECU after the filter has been replaced, and reset the additive light after topping up. Autel MaxiCheck DPF Reset Tool cover many car makes, generally speaking, they are:
Published Jul 11, 2016. + Follow. An original diagnostic tool is necessary to do a forced regeneration, such as original Autel MaxiCheck DPF and original VPECKER Easydia will help you reset the
Never let it get above full. Change oil as often as possible and after any garage forced regeneration. Removing/gutting dpf, fixing whatever other issues are present may be only fix short of scrapping car. The dpf will continue to get blocked if something is causing engine to be "smoky" . Replacing dpf for say 1000 euro is no good if it blocks
